MASLINICA Mimosa Lido Palace Hotel

The view was beautiful, the beach was a short walk away, and the hotel’s central location was a plus. But I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re expecting a real four-star experience. Our meals were a letdown: breakfast was exactly the same every day for all five days, and dinner had few choices and little variety. In our room, the furniture was outdated, it felt cramped, and the towels were visibly worn. The bathroom was barely worth two stars. Sound insulation was practically nonexistent, so we heard everything in the hallway. Staff came across as unfriendly, without a smile or warm greeting during the whole stay, which made us wonder whether it was because we were foreign tourists. We booked a standard double through a travel agency, then noticed Booking.com didn’t even show pictures of that room type. After seeing the room, that made sense. Both elevators were out for a full day, making the climb to the seventh floor quite a challenge. The hotel still uses old-fashioned keys instead of key cards, and despite giving guests a wristband, they also require you to carry a paper slip everywhere. On our last night, part of the ceiling came down in our room, most likely because of the heavy rain.

The location, food, and clean, fresh apartments were all excellent. A few things could be better: there was just one AC/DC socket for the whole family room, so bring your own sockets. The family room’s toilet door was transparent and had no lock, which is a shame. None of the pools had a lifeguard, so you have to keep an eye on your children yourself.

The room was okay, though it could use some refurbishment, such as on the doors. Rabac city center is about a 10-15 minute walk away. The hotel has a great spot near the beach, and the view from the room is beautiful. There’s a pool with free beach umbrellas and sun loungers, plus some quite good beach restaurants and bars. Breakfast was good, and dinner at the hotel was great, with soft drinks included.

We were really satisfied with our stay and had a lovely holiday. There was lots of good food, and the hotel staff were nice. We can recommend this place!
