The place itself was nice and quiet, with beautiful gardens, but we weren't treated kindly. We were hot when we arrived, and a friend of mine turned on the air conditioning while the door was open. The woman who welcomed us took away the remote because she didn't want us using it. Maybe she didn't think what my friend did was okay, but she didn't need to take the remote and stop us from using the air conditioning. I think we'd have had a different impression if things had gone another way. Enjoy your stay 👋🏽

We had good beds and a nice location close to Cuvi Beach. You can rent bicycles from the host, but even getting to use the barbecue meant having to ask and haggle, and access to the AC remote seemed to be a privilege. We also should have discussed having our own guests with the host. We didn't feel safe after what happened. The host said this kind of thing was common in the area. Before booking or checking in, it's worth agreeing on privacy details, including whether the host will enter the apartment while you're away and why.
