Hotel Medena Budget

The hotel looks good, and the bar staff were extremely polite. At reception it was busy, but I was helped right away, though I did notice a bit of stress. Towels were replaced daily. One small thing: the soap and bag holders, along with the toilet bowl, could use a little more attention to cleanliness.

The room was small but clean and cosy, and the meals were varied and tasty. There’s a lot of space in the common areas, and we found the hotel quite satisfactory during our early spring stay, despite hearing people say Hotel Medena wasn't very good. The beach is walkable, with a children's playground and hiking trails nearby. There's also a pedestrian path from the hotel to Trogir's old town.

The view of the sea from the 6th floor was phenomenal, and the food was great. Staff were very polite and open-minded. Nights were too noisy, though, because there were so many kids' groups.

The best parts were the beautiful sea and the varied food in the dining room. We also took an excursion that was interesting, with a pleasant, very friendly driver. It didn't include a guide, though, so knowing languages is necessary if you don't want to get lost. The rest of the stay was frustrating. We waited eight hours in the lobby to check in, with no breakfast or lunch included, so we had to pay another 20 euros per person. In the room there were only two sockets, for the minibar and TV, so we had to swap plugs around to charge our phones. The bathroom's sewage system had problems and a smell that wouldn't go away. Although room cleaning was offered, the maids didn't do their job: the mirrors and other surfaces were dirty. Even leaving a tip didn't mean they'd clean or change the bed linen. There was no Wi-Fi in the room. It only appeared in the lobby and near the pools. Maybe these issues are only in building B, but other guests said the same was happening there too. The price felt too high for an inexpensive resort. There's also a tourist fee of 14 euros, which you may not hear about until you collect your passports. When we tried to complain, reception just shrugged and said there were a lot of people, without even apologizing for the inconvenience. Come at your own risk, and only for a few days. Otherwise you may feel you're paying for disrespectful treatment rather than service.
