AC Hotel by Marriott Split

Our corner room was really spacious, especially compared with other AC hotels, and had fantastic views of both the city and sea. The spa and pool area were in great condition, super relaxing, and never too busy. The hotel is a bit farther from the old town than where most people stay, but it works well if you don’t mind walking, and it’s convenient to get an Uber there or back. We picked the AC Hotel for our wedding and were extremely happy with the choice. We hosted a pre-wedding event there, and Paula, Josipa, and the restaurant team were so helpful. They put on a great event that made our week even better.

We enjoyed the walk to the old town, and taxis and buses are cheap if you’d rather ride. The rooms were lovely and clean, with amazing views, including from the pool and gym on the 17th floor. Staff were friendly and helpful, explaining how to get into the old town and recommending places to eat. We’d certainly stay again and highly recommend it.

It’s a little far from the old town, though the bus route makes getting there easy. The city views are amazing. Breakfast and the evening bar were both great, and the rooms had cozy beds and pillows and a lovely shower. Another lovely Marriott hotel.

The sauna has the best view I’ve ever seen in one, and the gym is decent. It’s close enough to walk to the center in about 20 minutes, and the room is generally quiet unless the person next door is very loud. There are also better bar options and prices along the way to the Old Town, since the hotel bar is quite overpriced. The breakfast was bland and nothing special. If you’re paying extra, you might want to look at places outside the hotel. Freshly cooked items were good, but the pastries weren’t, and the sausages and other meat dishes were very unpleasant. The mattress was hard and uncomfortable, and the room was always too hot even when the panel was set to 20C. Opening the window seemed to send the system into a panic. Colleagues on the trip said their rooms were too cold, so the temperature situation was strange. The hotel is only three years old as of this writing, but the rooms already show some wear. The design isn’t great either: the partly glass-paneled bathroom wall and door leave a couple with no privacy. On paper, the modern design and attentive staff should add up to a good stay, but I found the hotel oddly uncomfortable. It starts on the 17th floor, and there’s nothing else currently that high in Split. I don’t think any room has a bad view, but being so high up leaves the place feeling disconnected, and you’re constantly taking the elevator. Since it’s connected to Marriott, there are a lot of Americans around, which may or may not be what you want on a trip to Croatia.
