Fortuna Luxury Rooms

The location is handy for the old town, the route 37 airport bus station, rail, and ferries. They were also very flexible about storing luggage before check-in. The rooms are on the second floor, which is something to bear in mind, and inside they're immaculate and look just like the photos. The outside is shabby, so going in felt a bit like discovering “Narnia”.

Inna was responsive and helpful when I checked in, and let me leave my luggage after checkout since my flight was in the evening. The hotel is about a five-minute walk from the old town, with a supermarket on the next block. It's inside an apartment complex, and the building outside is covered in graffiti, but the room and hotel interior were very clean and neat. The room matched the picture and made for a comfortable stay.

Fortuna is an easy walk from the ferry port with suitcases, and it's less than five minutes from Old Town and about ten minutes from the ferry port and bus station. Just be aware there's no elevator, so you have to climb two flights of stairs. Our balcony room faced a somewhat noisy street, but closing the windows kept it from being a problem, and we weren't bothered by the noise. I spent three days in Split and was really impressed. The building doesn't look like much from outside, but the guest rooms are excellent. Ours was spotless when we arrived and the furnishings were all in good shape. Toni helped with check-in and was very helpful throughout our stay. The hospitality was top-notch, and I'd highly recommend Fortuna.

Avoid this place. We had hairs on the bedding in all three rooms, and one room had a disgusting headboard. The shower in one room didn't work. They eventually changed the sheets but never fixed the shower, and when we complained, they refused to do anything. We contacted the property, but they were slow to help, so we went to our booking agent. The owner got angry that we'd escalated it. This is a converted apartment in a residential block, not a hotel, in a seedy part of town. The graffiti-covered front door has no lights nearby, and one night two drug users were sitting on the front steps. We didn't meet a single staff member during our stay, and there's nowhere to leave luggage. They use Rituals Karma bottles for toiletries, but refill them with some cheap, nasty stuff. Google wouldn't let us post photos of the hairs on the bedding. Dreadful experience.
