Heritage Hotel Cardo

We’d absolutely recommend staying here on a trip to Split. The staff were so friendly, and the place is comfortable and luxurious, with a recent renovation and plenty of little surprises. Best of all, the air conditioning actually works, unlike at some other places we’ve stayed in Europe. It’s right in the heart of the city, steps from both main squares, with restaurants, bars, shops, and sights all around.

The pier is within walking distance, which made it handy for catching the ferry and island hopping, as we did. You’re also right among great restaurants, bars, shops, and museums. We had such a wonderful stay at the Heritage Hotel Cardo. The location was stellar, and the staff were genuinely kind, helpful, and warm throughout our time in Split.

The location puts you right in the center of the old town, and the room and washroom were super clean. We also had the best mattress of our trip around Europe, even compared with our stays at Hilton and a top-ranking serviced apartment in Switzerland and Italy. There’s no lift and we were traveling with our 70-year-old mother, but the team carried all our luggage upstairs at check-in and back downstairs at check-out. They also arranged a golf car to take us to the ferry pier for our trip to Dubrovnik after checkout. From arrival to departure, the team were caring and clearly putting in their best effort. I’d definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family traveling to Split.

Room 5 on the top floor looked straight down the alley onto the main Diocletian Palace Square, and the location was the biggest win. Breakfast was served around the corner in a beautiful courtyard and was exceptional. The rooms were very clean, and we loved the tiny narrow staircase up to the hotel, it feels very Split. Ivan, Edita, Mario, Dominic, and Betty gave us perfect hospitality and were incredibly helpful. Truly a perfect stay.
