Lanterna Rooms

We felt safe with the front gate kept locked, and thank goodness there was air conditioning. The location was excellent, the place was very clean, and the staff were lovely and helpful, always ready to do more for us. There were charming little details like a vanity kit and water in the fridge. We absolutely loved our stay at lanterna. It was a gorgeous find, great value, and I'd highly recommend it.

The room looked lovely, and the staff were welcoming. We also liked the location. Still, it didn’t live up to the reviews we’d read, and for the price we felt other places we’d stayed in Croatia’s busy tourist areas offered better value. We could hear the hallway, and it felt like people outside could hear into our room too. Our room faced a busy, noisy street that kept us awake. There was no coffee machine, and we spotted several bugs. It was a decent stay, just not worth what we paid.

Our host made the stay especially enjoyable, with thoughtful help on bus and ferry connections and well-researched ideas for local national parks and coastal islands. The rooms were carefully cleaned, and the host was courteous and attentive. Lanterna Rooms is a comfortable, quiet break from the crowds, close to Split’s pedestrian mall and major sights. We stayed October 25 to 29 and found the price great.

The flower-filled inner courtyard gets sunshine and feels peaceful, a lovely contrast to the city. Our room was spotless, and the bathroom had clearly been newly fitted out. The staff were kind and welcoming, and went out of their way to help, even though we arrived after midnight. They also gave us useful advice on places to visit, food, and parking in Split.
