Makarun Heritage Rooms

We only stayed one night at the Makarun Heritage Rooms and Makarun Restaurant, but the welcome was warm from the start. They met us off the ferry, communicated really well, and took extra care with personal recommendations and helping us book things during our short visit. The room was spotless, comfortable, and finished beautifully. You could see the attention to detail throughout. Dinner was the standout for our group of six. Service was attentive and intuitive, helpful without hovering. Both the sea bass and lamb were excellent, cooked just right and presented beautifully. The wine choices worked well with the food, and the staff's attitude made the evening feel special. We spent a fair amount, but it felt worth it for such a memorable experience. The restaurant is a real gem, and I could see it being picked up by fine dining guidebooks before long. Clearly run with care, skill, and genuine hospitality. Highly recommended.

The breakfast was a real treat: several delicious courses, and when an early tour kept us from going one morning, they packed a nice breakfast for us to take along. We felt comfortable and very welcome throughout our stay. The room was lovely, right in the heart of the old town, close to the water, train station, ferry, and palace. It also had a TV with Netflix, a waterfall shower with plenty of hot water, and a mini fridge.

The staff made my stay. Everyone was so friendly and helpful, and they even retrieved my bag and brought it back to the parking area, which was incredibly thoughtful. Thanks to Mario, and especially Ivan, who also helped me find places to visit in Split. The room was clean and had lovely olive shampoo and shower gels 😆. It's an easy walk to the port and the main attractions. I'd happily recommend it to anyone visiting Split!

We had dinner at their restaurant with a group of 12, and both the food and service were fantastic. The staff also welcomed us warmly, sat down with us when we arrived, and shared tips on what to see, where to eat, and what to do. Makarun Heritage Rooms has just five rooms, so it feels quiet and personal, and it's only steps from Diocletian’s Palace. Our room was clean and nicely designed, with a really comfortable bed. We'd definitely stay again. Highly recommend!
