The apartment looked modern and was in good shape, with nice bars nearby. It’s close to the main area but far enough away to avoid the crowds. The stay still fell well short of what was advertised. There was no internet, and the access details were wrong, so I had to message the host. There’s no TV or satellite channels either, and it wouldn’t connect to WiFi. The listing called the place four-star, though it’s actually three-star, and none of the advertised amenities were there. No coffee pods or toiletries, despite those being shown in the photos. The host had left out shampoo and body wash used by the previous guests, which made the apartment feel recently lived in. The bedroom had no AC, and the bed came with two single duvets and two tiny cushions for pillows. I asked if there were more pillows and got no reply. It was really uncomfortable. The shower only had hot water for about 10 minutes, then needed around 30 minutes to heat again for just another five minutes. We often ended up with cold showers, and water leaked across the bathroom floor. We were given four hand towels, but no bath towels. It’s also advertised as soundproof, but you can hear everything. At 1 a.m. the guests upstairs rang our doorbell, then partied, shouted and banged around until 3 a.m. I asked the host who owned that apartment. She said she’d find out, but never did. Luckily, it was their last night, as I learned by asking about the upstairs apartment on Airbnb. I wouldn’t recommend it. Other apartments we’ve stayed in in Croatia have exceeded our expectations, so this was especially disappointing.

We had only a day and a half in Split, and the afternoon we arrived was completely thrown off. I was there with my three-year-old, five months pregnant and diabetic; we were hungry and about to eat after collecting the keys. Instead, we had to urgently find and book somewhere else, contact a new owner, and calm down after the way we’d been treated. I’d booked this place for my family two nights, three months ahead. I messaged the owner two hours before arriving and things seemed fine, apart from her sending an address for parking that I couldn’t find on Google Maps in Split. She stopped replying, so we went to the location marked on the map. At 4 p.m., while I was on the third floor where the apartment was supposed to be, she messaged me on WhatsApp to say we’d been relocated. I thought it must be a mistake since I’d paid a week earlier, but she was serious. She gave no explanation or apology, no photos or new price, just an address three kilometres away. We’d booked beside the old town and had no intention of suddenly moving to somewhere we hadn’t seen. I refused the new place and asked for the apartment I’d paid for. She told me to cancel, which I couldn’t do, then said she’d cancel it herself. We were furious. We’ve travelled and booked through booking.com for years and never had anything like this. I never got an explanation. The next day booking.com asked me to confirm that I hadn’t shown up. That was completely untrue. It made me think the owner had no right to cancel at that point and could only mark us as absent and waive the cancellation fee. If I’d cancelled then, I would have lost all the money. She seemed very familiar with the process, which left me with the impression this might not have been the first time she’d done it.

We stayed in this lovely apartment while passing through Split. There was lots of light, and it was neat and clean. It’s in a quiet neighborhood in the city center. I’d definitely recommend it! 👍😎

The apartment was really nice and in a good location. The owner was friendly and communication was great. Thanks!

It’s close to the city center, a great place, and the prices are moderate.
