The staff were friendly, and the location couldn’t have been better. We had a lovely room on the top floor, with a renovated bathroom and a good shower. Breakfast isn’t served at the hotel, and we didn’t have time to go to the other place, but they prepared a basket of sandwiches for us each day and brought it to our room.

The location is perfect, but would I stay again or recommend this place? No. It’s described as quaint, but the look feels contrived, like something out of Game of Thrones. This does not deserve a four-star rating. Our room, 102, was roomy, but the shower leaked and the basin drained very slowly. The safe didn’t work, and there was nowhere at all to put things in the bathroom. The towels were clean, but thin and stained. There’s no restaurant, breakfast, or ice, and the bottle opener was broken. A male staff member came into the room without knocking while I was inside. Housekeeping also missed cleaning the room, though they fixed that after I complained.

The friendly front desk and rooftop terrace, with its fantastic sunset views, made this a good-value stay in the heart of Old Town. The rooms are spacious and well equipped, though some finishes are showing wear. One side faces a nearby bar, so you can hear its music until around midnight, but it isn't loud. I think some reviews are unfair: staying inside the old palace walls means there won't be a huge parking lot right there, and you'll need to climb some stairs. For me, the location and price make up for that.

We'd gladly come back to Plaza Marchi on our next trip to Split. The staff made a stressful situation much easier when the airline lost one of our bags, going out of their way to help us track it down. They also gave us restaurant and sightseeing suggestions and offered to arrange tours around the city and nearby area. We had a fantastic room on the top floor, with a private balcony and a great city view, and there's also a rooftop balcony open to all guests.

The lobby attendant was amazing. When I lost my credit card, she spent nearly 45 minutes helping me search everywhere, and we found it. I stayed for two nights in April 2025 and was really happy with how convenient the location was, right among the amenities and activity. I liked the decor, and the bed was comfortable. Great service, and I'd highly recommend it.
