Sperone Luxury Accommodation

We spent four nights here and already can’t wait to return for another holiday. My wife and I felt at home rather than like we were just on a getaway. Ana, Toni, and Lara were so welcoming and helped with our requests. It was a pleasure meeting you all, and you made our stay special. The hotel is right in the old town, but it felt peaceful and calming. The pool was crystal clear, and there’s a little bar serving cocktails made with natural ingredients and good local beer. Our rooms were cozy and clean, and the stairs were swept. Daily cleaning and fresh towels were available on request, and the housekeeping staff always checked in with warm smiles.

We were in Split for a wedding and had a lovely stay at Sperone. The location is hard to beat, and having a pool was a bonus. The staff were kind and helpful, arranging airport transfers and suggesting places to eat and visit. Breakfast was really good, and everything felt clean and welcoming. I’d recommend it for either a short or longer stay.

The location is the hotel's strongest point. It sits in a quiet area just beyond the busy palace streets, so it was easy to walk everywhere and enjoy peaceful evenings. Breakfast was okay. But our experience fell well short of what we expected from a four-star luxury property. The overall rating and photos can give the wrong impression. The room was very basic and not especially comfortable. The mattress felt old and low quality, with springs easy to feel, and there was barely any space to hang or store clothes. We also had a clogged sink. When I described it, the front desk staff member turned on the tap and looked as if nothing was wrong. The sink backed up within seconds, just as I’d said, and the exchange was awkward enough that I ended up saying, “I’m not lying.” It came across as careless and unprofessional. The service was what really hurt the stay. The front desk staff were polite, but didn’t feel welcoming or helpful. On our first night, with heavy rain forecast for the next day, we asked for suggestions. The receptionist said, “I don’t know, I don’t go out. I stay home or visit friends.” Someone working in hospitality should still be able to give guests a few local ideas, even if that’s true. It was disappointing from a hotel charging over $200 a night and presenting itself as four stars. When the rain started pouring the next day, we asked to borrow umbrellas. There were four behind the desk, but we were told they were reserved for a wedding and other guests had already asked for them. Staff suggested nearby shops, but they were either closed on Sunday or didn’t sell umbrellas. That wasn’t the level of care or problem-solving we expected. I wish we’d paid attention to earlier reviews describing similar problems. The location and breakfast are fine, but the lack of warmth, attention, and comfort makes this hard to recommend. We do not recommend it.

Best hotel ever. We stayed two days and checked out this morning. I’ve never been in a hotel this clean. The pool was great, we used the spa, and breakfast was amazing. Lara, Toni, and Ana are amazing people. We’ll be back.
