Sun Spalato Hills 8

We couldn't actually review the Sun Spalato Hill 8 apartment in Split because we never managed to get inside. The apartment is in a nature reserve, and the neighboring park had been closed to visitors a few weeks earlier after a storm. We weren't allowed to drive straight to the apartment. The online check-in beforehand was complicated and required our license plate number so we could pass the park barrier. We were told to park outside the park, which would have made it very difficult to reach the apartment with luggage. While looking for someone responsible for the building, we found that it sits below street level. You have to go down about 30 steps, then walk roughly 50 meters along the beach to reach the third floor of an apartment building. The bigger issue was the landlord and the agencies involved. Booking.com sent us to one agency, which then referred us to another agency somewhere in Asia. We couldn't reach the landlord for help or questions, and it was frustratingly difficult to get in touch with anyone responsible for us. Nobody told us about the park closure in advance. They even asked us to send photos as proof, though the closure was easy to see online. In the end, Booking.com helped us cancel without a fee. Excellent service from Booking.com.
