Tchaikovsky Hostel Split

I spent four days here on my own, and it was a fantastic choice. The location is hard to beat, about a five-minute walk from old town and the water. Booking.com communication was good, and the directions for finding the place and checking in were clear. The price was great, too. The owner's mother was so kind, just like your own Croatian grandmother, and left fresh market fruit in the common area for everyone. She checked on everyone in my room to see that we had what we needed and were being looked after. The other people at the hostel were lovely. There's also a small shared balcony that fits about three people, a nice place to sit outside and stay dry when it rains. The beds have curtains for privacy. I spent ages researching hostels, and this was easily the best choice I made. I'll come back when I'm in Split again.

We had such a warm welcome here, especially from the owners' mother. She was kind and attentive, and when my friends lost contact with me because of my data problems, she went out of her way to get in touch. I was safe, but I really appreciated that extra care. The staff and owners were also very helpful with suggestions for island trips and places in the city, and they were always cleaning or doing maintenance. The location near old town in Split is amazing. There's plenty of bedroom and locker space, much more than at the first hostel I stayed in Croatia, and the bed curtains added privacy and comfort. The kitchen is small for the number of rooms, but we managed. Two friends and I are hoping to return next year. Thank you, and see you in 2026 😊

It's a small, modest hostel, which made it easy to meet other travelers. People were very sociable, especially around the kitchen, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The owner's mother brings fresh fruit almost every day and is so hospitable, like having your own Croatian mom. At reception, the recommendations on things to see felt honest and unbiased. The shower is tiny, but strangely, it was always free. Maybe that's because most of the guests seemed to be women.

I had a really lovely stay. The hostel was quiet and clean, and very close to the centre. Mirjiana was so kind and suggested a few things I could do in Split. My flight wasn't until the evening, and she let me leave my bag somewhere safe after checkout.
