La Porta is more like a flat with several private suites, and the entrance is down an alley on the building's west side, near the bakery. You can hear guests next door, though the room itself stays quiet and cool at night. I stayed for two nights, which was enough for me. I wouldn't choose to stay longer if I had another chance. It covers the essentials and is a solid, cheap option if you're just coming and going.

We had the deluxe balcony room with an ocean view, and it was very clean. Toni, the manager, kindly helped carry our 50+lbs luggage up four flights of stairs. Strong man! 😄 From the balcony you can see the city wall and the center of Diocletian's Palace.

La Porta was a relaxing place to stay, right in the old town and about a five-minute walk from most places. The room had modern decor, air-con, a fridge, a large shower and a comfy bed, and the host was excellent. It's a complex of rooms with a shared entrance, unclear signs and no lift. There are 79 steps to the top floor, and I missed having hotel facilities like a lounge, bar or breakfast room. I'd recommend it to people visiting Split who are in good shape.

The room was nicely presented and close to everything in Split's old town. There's no lift, so it was a bit of a climb up the stairs, but that was fine.

We'd stay here again. Toni was extremely responsive and helpful, and can assist with luggage if you let him know. The room was quiet and clean, with A/C, a strong shower and windows for fresh air. Ours had no balcony or view, so ask ahead. It's a safe spot just steps from Diocletian’s Palace, the Green Market and The Daltonist bar, which is within 15 seconds away. Riva promenade is a five-minute walk and the ferry port takes 10 minutes. Keep in mind it's in a pedestrian zone, so Uber drops you a block away, and there are cobblestones and four flights of stairs.
