The rooms are pretty basic, but the beach is only 50 m away and the place is a 15-minute walk from the buzz of the old town. We never saw a service person, yet everything was managed well and we had no problems. Service on WhatsApp was very responsive. Having a little coffee or a coffee machine would make a big difference to the experience.
The room had no windows, just one door right by the entrance and under the stairs. On our first day there was no hot water in the shower, and the sink only worked off and on. It smelled strongly of damp when we came in. I asked the owner to move us, but was told there were no other rooms. The place looked more like a garage on the beach than proper accommodation. It wasn't worth what we paid, and we definitely won't be back. The Booking photos didn't match the actual condition. Some areas were dirty, and although the bed linen had been washed, there were hairs on it and little dots that looked like fleas. I suggest reading other guests' reviews, as many were dissatisfied too. This hotel doesn't deserve four stars in my view, two at best. Be careful when booking.
We left after one night even though we'd booked four. The place was severely overpriced, maybe two stars at most, and I don't know who would give it five. The photos were misleading, and calling anything here “luxury” is wildly ambitious. The area looked okay on the map, but in person it's unattractive, below what looked like an abandoned marina. The rooms were tiny and extremely dirty, with dust, mold, and stains. Our room had no balcony or outdoor spot to hang wet things. Other rooms had “personal” balconies, but they were open to the public and overlooked a run-down concrete dock being marketed as a “beach.” The common area access didn't feel secure, and neither did the rooms. It felt like every room had the same code. We got no access instructions ahead of time and had to WhatsApp the host in a panic to find the strange location and get the pins. The strong air conditioning and nice host were the only redeeming qualities.
We ended our stay a day early because we couldn't get any rest. Our room was right by the main entrance, beneath the outside metal stairs people used to go to the beach. Footsteps continued until 3 a.m., and the room had no soundproofing. Its only window or door faced the entrance, so we kept it shut to avoid being seen. In the rush to leave, we left a pair of AirPods on the bed. The owners told us the cleaning staff had found them, but they never sent them back, even after we offered to cover shipping. Weeks passed without a result. I have little else to say about the property or the people running it.
Mare Luxury Rooms felt quiet and private despite being near the beach, restaurants, and attractions. The staff were friendly throughout and happy to help, from suggesting a restaurant to arranging a tour. I was welcomed into a warm atmosphere, and the modern, luxurious rooms had thoughtful details and very comfortable beds. I slept well every night. I had a spectacular stay and would gladly return for another relaxing time by the coast. Highly recommend.
