Apartments Villa Mirella

The owners were lovely and helpful throughout our two weeks at Villa Mirella. They shared useful local information when we arrived and gave us a small farewell gift at the end. The apartments were spacious and very clean, though a little old-fashioned. There was plenty of standard kitchen equipment, and we had no trouble cooking for our group of 10. We ate together on the huge terrace in the first-floor apartment, which had a beautiful view over the bay and small port. From that port, you can take a boat to Trogir if you’d rather avoid a longer walk and parking fees near the old town. The location worked well for us: close to nice beaches, shops, and cafés, while far enough from the busiest spots to relax. There’s also a shortcut across the peninsula to Trogir Old Town, so you can skip the busy road with few or no sidewalks. The main drawback was street noise, especially at night when motorcyclists revved their engines as they went by.

The pink apartment was super clean, with a well-equipped kitchen, parking on the property, and a big balcony where our group of 10 could eat while enjoying the view. It was close to the beach, shops, and Trogir old town. The photos online matched the apartment, so there were no surprises. The interior was a bit old-fashioned, but the other advantages and very low price made that fine for me. The owner was really nice and helpful. The street beside the building was very noisy, though I knew that before booking and cared more about being near the attractions. The Wi-Fi could also be better; I could use it only in the living room and on the balcony.

BED BUGS! We met the host at check-in, then tried to make dinner, but there was no oil, seasoning, salt, or pepper, and hardly any utensils. The towels were old and ragged, with marks on them. After we drained the bathtub, mold came out of the jets. On our first night, as we got into bed, we found two bed bugs in one of the rooms (photo attached). We messaged the host at midnight and sent the photo. The beds were uncomfortable even aside from that: there was just one fitted sheet and a top sheet that didn’t fit. When it was pulled up to my neck, it couldn’t cover my feet, so I was cold without a blanket. We stayed in early May and had booked three nights, but after that night on the hard couch, we couldn’t face another night there because of the bugs. We each got maybe two hours of sleep. The host didn’t come to check herself. Instead, she sent her cleaner, who tossed the sheets around a bit. She saw our photo and the time and location it was taken, including live mode. By then it was 9 a.m., and we had killed the bugs we found at midnight. We tried to work it out directly with the host, even offering to pay for the one night and cleaning fee so we could just move on. She refused any refund. We had to find somewhere else at the last minute, but thankfully found a beautiful apartment with clean bedding, a kitchen suitable for cooking, and a private terrace with a spa, for only 3 euros more per night. We’re still frustrated about this stay and strongly suggest avoiding the place.
