Villa Donna

The hostess spoke English and gave us a lovely welcome. The accommodation was simple, but it worked for a couple of nights. In the heatwave, the air conditioning was a lifesaver.

We found the area around Slatine much nicer for beaches, with beach bars and free parking. The beach nearby wasn’t great. The house itself has a pretty garden pool with a whirlpool and a covered balcony, and it’s quiet despite being less than a ten-minute walk over a bridge to Trogir’s beautiful old town. The main drawback is the airplane noise, as Split Airport is close. There’s a large and a small supermarket and a bakery nearby. The host family was very friendly and spoke English. The apartment suited three adults and a child, though one bed is under two metres long. The driveway is very narrow and unsuitable for large vehicles, but you can rent secure parking about 100 metres away.

Booking and arranging everything was simple, without any red tape, and the owner greeted us with cold drinks. It’s an old house with a garden and pool, and the location is great for being right in Trogir. Even with the busy city centre close by, it was completely quiet at the property. This place has a real buzz to it!

We’d happily come back. On Ciovo, it’s about a 10-15 minute walk to the center, and the setting is fantastic. Having our own pool was a real plus since there aren’t many beaches in the area. After our long journey, the lovely host family welcomed us with fruit and cold juice, and had towels ready right away for a swim.
