Hotel Residence Garden Suites Umag Plava Laguna

The terrace by the beach had a lovely atmosphere, and breakfast came with plenty of choices. Our room was nice and near the beach, though a bit cold inside. The AC was automatic, so we couldn't set it to a higher temperature. The reception staff were nice, and one of them could even speak Hungarian. I changed my rating from three stars to four because three wasn't the right choice.

We stayed in the garden suite and would happily return to the same one. It was new, beautiful, quiet, private, comfortable, and clean, with a nice sea view on the walk into the nearby city. Staff were polite, cleaned the suite every day, and tried to help whenever we needed anything. Wellness/Spa is included in the price. I highly recommend it for a romantic getaway or a proper rest.

We were a family of three, travelling with our three-year-old, and the suites were great. The children's program was great too. The one drawback was the carousel noise at room 626: loud music went on until late, making it practically impossible to sit on the terrace. We recommend the hotel and will probably come back.

It's fairly far from town, so we took the tourist train there and back. It stops right on the hotel grounds. The garden suites have a comfortable layout, close to the beach and main hotel but far enough away from the noise. The hotel staff were attentive and friendly. Parking was great, breakfast had a good selection, housekeeping was always on time and thorough, and the AC was top notch. One perk of the garden suite over the main hotel 'Sol Umag' is free sun loungers at the beach. The restaurant's a la carte selection could be better, though, and the wifi kept disconnecting, so I had to reconnect manually each time I picked up my phone. That was annoying.
