Hotel Miramare

The food is decent, with enough choice, and the parking beside the hotel is convenient. The beach is right nearby, just a two-minute walk, on the first line. We’re still staying here, but so far the room cleaning has left a bad impression. Today they only folded the bedding and towels. The shower items weren’t replaced, the rubbish was left behind, and the floor wasn’t washed. There’s no free water in the evening or at reception, and fruit is only allowed at the table, which feels funny. Thanks to the cook and the rest of the team for the food. We’ll add more later.

The service was very friendly, but the staff didn’t know much about nearby attractions. When I asked the concierge how to get to a main part of the biggest nearby national park, I expected more from a four-star hotel than being sent to tourist information. The little information they did give me turned out to be wrong. The rooms were clean but dated. The air conditioning couldn’t keep the room cool, and the shower badly needed repairs.

The staff were all extremely kind and ready to help. We found the rooms clean, and the Wi-Fi was okay. There isn’t a buffet dinner to choose from, but what they serve is delicious, fresh, and home-style, with portions big enough to leave you full. From the balcony you get an inspiring sea view, and there’s a pool that’s lit up at night, making a beautiful scene for night photos. It’s a wonderful place to enjoy a holiday.

I slept with the window open, and the September nights were cool enough that I didn’t need air conditioning. I couldn’t switch the AC on anyway, only the fan. Prices for rooms and drinks are a bit above the hotel average, but understandable: the location is right by the beach and restaurants, it’s calm and clean, and the stay felt safe. Staff speak fluent German and English, so communication was easy. The best part was the staff, who were friendly and helpful, even up for a chat. Breakfast had something for everyone, and the place was very clean. There’s also a small, pleasant arboretum at the back for meditation. The interior wasn’t my taste. It has pastel colors, pink clinkers, green lazyr paintings on the walls, and deliberately old-fashioned style. I can see how someone might find it romantic, though.
