Hotel Villa Arausana & Antonina

The staff are friendly, and breakfast is excellent. The rooms feel fresh and clean apart from the stained carpet, but the place could use some TLC. It's a fine hotel, just not a four-star one.

We were treated well, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The island views from the hotel are lovely, especially at breakfast, and Vodice can work as a base for seeing other parts of the region, though the town itself doesn't offer all that much. Breakfast came with the stay and was decent, if not special. I wouldn't suggest staying without a car. Check-out at 10 a.m. felt early, especially with our flight not until 10 p.m.; on a rainy day, the long wait was inconvenient. At check-out we also found out about a €10 per day parking charge that hadn't been mentioned. I think parking should be included for hotel guests. The room was smaller than I expected. The wallpaper and plaster looked a bit worn, and there were a few stains on the carpet, which didn't seem very hygienic. Cleaning staff came into the room twice even though we hadn't asked for service, which felt intrusive. The air conditioning only blew cold air when we wanted to warm the room. It looked adjustable but seemed centrally controlled, so we turned it off. It's a decent hotel, but at the same price I think you can find something better, possibly in a more interesting town than Vodice.

The location worked well for visiting other towns and nice places, and the service was good. But the room cleaning was terrible, with no attention to detail. They have their own parking lot and still charge €10 a day. If you don't eat meat, I wouldn't recommend buying dinner. The food quality was very low. I think they choose the cheapest products, and sometimes serve leftovers at the next meal that don't taste good. It was okay, but I wouldn't choose to go back.

The pool and location looked promising, and the place looked good from a distance. The staff were friendly, but not helpful when we raised problems. We had paid in advance, and from their point of view there was nothing they could do. It’s a shame, because the hotel, location, pool, shady trees out front, and deck chairs all have potential, even though the chairs were dirty. The service was catastrophic, and we won’t return in this configuration. I hope this helps others find a better option. We were led to expect a four-star hotel, but what we found was far from acceptable. The dining room was in a two-star hotel, though it is still rated four stars, as the photos show. There was no sea view. It was humid and incredibly crowded, with poor-quality food, dirty chairs, and constant shortages of food, drinks, and glasses. When we complained, we got a voucher for two drinks. The bartender at the beach bar was extremely stressed and wanted to argue with me over it. That was all. The pictures on other platforms gave a completely different impression from reality. We weren't told what to expect beforehand. If we had been, we wouldn't have chosen this hotel. I'm sure they know that, which is why they use the “you are the first guests this year” line. I understand the understaffing, but advertising one thing and delivering something completely different with no apology or compensation isn't acceptable. The rooms and hotel were far below standard for cleanliness. The carpets in the halls, on the stairs, and in the rooms were filthy, the wallpaper was coming off, and the bed sheets had small red dots. I don't want to guess what they were. The beds were incredibly hard and uncomfortable. The hot water was worst of all. Each time we turned on the tap, dirty, coffee-colored water ran for five or ten minutes before clearing. They suggested we not shower on the first evening, after we'd driven for 11 hours. And then there was the restaurant. If you picture eating on the beach under the pine trees like in the photos, don't count on it, at least not in May. Breakfast and dinner were available, but not served or prepared, at the hotel “PUNTA” across the street. The hotel and its “restaurant” are nowhere near a four-star standard. The food had no quality or variety, everything seemed to be the cheapest option, staff were too few, and they were missing everything except stains, which were everywhere.
