Elenas Rooms & Apartment

The room was top notch, and the location at this price can’t be beaten. The host and caretaker was courteous and keen to help. They even let me leave my bags after checkout. Perfection.

The only real plus was the central location, close to everything. We chose this place because the photos looked great and reviews were good, but it didn’t match what we found. The decor was funky and nice, yet the apartment was very dirty when we arrived. The toilet seat hadn’t been cleaned around or underneath, the brush was filthy, and there was black mold in the shower corners. Five different scented diffusers made the room smell bad. The bedding was very old and rough against the skin, with worn sheets and duvet cover that made us itchy; there was hair in the cover, too. The top of the bed frame was dusty, carpets weren’t properly vacuumed, and cobwebs and dust had collected on the ceiling and in corners. The giraffe lamps on the bedside tables were very dusty, and the walls had stains. The light switches took several presses to work. In the bathroom, the sink tap sprayed water everywhere and got toiletries wet. The little floor rug was very dirty, and both the dusty towel rack and white hair dryer were dirty.

We enjoyed the little balcony overlooking a quiet garden. The apartment was spacious, with a well-equipped kitchen and bathroom. Its location was good, near shops, restaurants, and bars.

The room had tea and coffee, and the electronic entry meant no key was needed. It was a quiet, pleasant place, with quick communication. I liked the decor and walk-in shower, and the location was handy for shops and the main attractions.
