Hostel Mali Mrak

The common areas, inside and out, are lovely, and the decoration makes you want to hang around and meet people. It isn’t a party hostel, though you can still have a drink and play cards. Igor is a very friendly host, and volunteering is possible if you ask him. The place is clean, has an equipped kitchen, locked doors, and individual dorm lockers, so it feels very safe. It’s cheap compared with the rest of the city, and the tram makes it easy to reach the centre. One of the best hostels I’ve stayed in. I wouldn’t pick anywhere else in Zagreb. I loved the artwork and the memories left by past travellers throughout the hostel. It’s on a peaceful street, with the city centre easy to reach by tram or train. Even in the quiet off-season, Igor, the friendly owner, made me feel very welcome. The beds were really comfortable, with privacy curtains, and there were roomy lockers in the room. The quiet spot on the edge of the city worked perfectly for me, especially with good transport connections. Hostel Mali Mrak had a great vibe and art everywhere that made it feel unique. It was cosy and had everything I needed. I also enjoyed the garden and outdoor kitchen when the weather was nice.
