Hotel 9

We came back for two nights, one at the start of our holiday and one on the final night. The hotel is very clean and comfortable, and breakfast had plenty to choose from. Its location opposite Zagreb bus station, with trams nearby, was ideal. In October the room felt warm at night, though, and the air conditioning had switched to centralized heating. Opening the window brought in road noise. The staff were friendly and offered a fan, which we didn’t take; the room cooled down later anyway. We enjoyed our short stays.

After a long international flight, we needed somewhere to rest before taking an intercity bus the next day, and this was a great fit. The room was quiet and very nice, and the staff were helpful and friendly. The €10 buffet breakfast is a bargain. I’d recommend it if you need a bed near the central bus terminal.

The location was the best part: an easy walk from the bus station, with a tram stop right beside it. Our room was large, but there were stains on the bed cover and bench, chipped mirror decor, and scraped paint in several spots. It also smelled heavily scented, almost as if something else was being covered up. At breakfast, some items seemed to have been sitting out for a while, including cold fried eggs, though we could ask for a fresh omelette and the woman serving was very nice. After check-in, the front desk service felt unfriendly, nearly hostile, which was baffling given other reviews. I expected more because of the high rating, and was glad we only stayed one night. For me, it wasn’t a four-star experience: the room maintenance, cleanliness, working AC and staff friendliness fell short, though the stay was serviceable.

The owner has a very nice motobike in the garage 👌. The service and personal were great, really professional. Super hotel!
