Villa Babilon

The pool and sunbathing spot were peaceful, which I liked, though a busy road is close by. We stayed for a week with my partner, and the friendly, helpful staff made the experience okay overall. The hotel is a bit far from Dubrovnik, but buses seemed frequent; we had a rental car. Two small supermarkets are about a two-minute walk away, and it felt better suited to a short stay, as many guests seemed to be there for only a day or two. Our room was nice, with usable bathroom facilities and powerful air conditioning. The cleaner didn’t clean the room, so we had to take out the rubbish ourselves. Food ordered from the menu was very good. The included breakfast buffet was poor, with mostly white bread and a couple of pieces of fruit, but the staff made an exception and prepared tasty omelettes for us. Thanks for that.

We had a really lovely time by the water, with warm chamomile tea and music from the 80s at the beach bar. It was nearly midnight when I went for a swim, and the water was great. The bar was still open and felt very cozy. I was told the apartments are quite luxurious, and they’re only a few steps from the water. The surroundings were nice too.

We stopped for a meal. The hotel looked nice, and the restaurant seemed okay, but the prices were high. The burger was €10 and made with frozen patties, ketchup, tomato and lettuce, while fries cost another €6. My girlfriend ordered pancakes, and since she’s allergic to nuts, we asked three times whether the chocolate was Nutella. They told us it wasn’t, but the pancakes arrived with Nutella. :(

We came in to get something to eat, but left angry after the waiter spoke rudely when I asked for a menu. He said something along the lines of them being full and breakfast service having ended. If you want to avoid being treated rudely, don’t go here.
