The owner was very kind, and when I asked for salt and pepper because the apartment didn’t have any, she brought them. Still, for the price, the place could have been better. The apartment was right next to the breakfast area, and there was a lot of mold in the bathroom, which didn’t feel safe for kids to breathe in. We couldn’t leave food on the counter because it was covered with what seemed like a million red ants. The AC worked well enough for us to sleep.

We loved spending evenings on the large, well-lit patio, and the parking was secure with the cars protected from the sun. The apartment we stayed in this July had been completely redecorated, was very well equipped, and had comfortable beds. The AC worked perfectly, and the host changed the sheets twice as well as the towels. The house is very close to the sea, and the thoughtful host took good care of us and our requests. On the way to the beach, there’s Arka Restaurant, where the food was absolutely delicious and the staff kind and polite. The view over Zaton Bay was spellbinding. The beach was perfect for families and solo travelers alike. Villa Doris was a perfect spot for our Croatian summer holiday. We can’t wait to return!

It’s about 12 minutes from the center of Dubrovnik, and getting there by Uber was really handy. Villa Doris had a clean, quiet, cozy Adriatic-style garden, a kind reception and a reasonable price. I’d definitely recommend it.

The accommodation was basic but did what we needed, and I loved the feeling of living with the family. I spent time on the terrace with Grandad while Mom made tea. Walking back from town is quite steep, but the route through all the little alleyways was lovely and gave us a glimpse of where people live.

The hosts’ parents were wonderful. When you enter the home, it feels warm and open, and the back door leads straight to restaurants and the beach. There’s plenty to do nearby, so everyone should try to stay at least four nights.
