Laroba Wellness Hotel

The wellness area offers an indoor pool, an outdoor jacuzzi, several kinds of saunas, massage, and games, so there are plenty of ways to relax. The food is delicious and varied, and there's a large conference room that works for training or learning events. This is a medium sized hotel on the shore of Lake Balaton, directly opposite Alsóörs train station. Trains arrive and leave without disturbing the hotel. Staff were generally friendly, though one person was grumpy during my stay.

We only tried the restaurant for breakfast, and it was amazing.

The food was awful. By breakfast, nearly everything had run out, though after the dinner we were served, that may have been for the best. The little bubble spa only came on for about five minutes once an hour, so most of the time it was just cold water. Our room faced the main road and railway, and even the bathroom cold tap ran warm. We were also given salty sticks priced like caviar and Diet Coke that had expired months earlier. Some staff seemed pretty frustrated, and it showed. The place is wildly overpriced for what feels like a cheap, dirty motel. If you can laugh about choosing it and keep up with the steady stream of embarrassingly bad service surprises, maybe you'll enjoy the experience. Otherwise, avoid it.

I liked how quiet and natural the setting felt. The staff were nice, and the food was good.
