Balaton Eldorado Camping

There was hardly any shade, the pool was small and old, and the muddy shore meant there was no usable beach or lake access. The campsite looked deserted, with maybe two tents there, and the restaurant seemed closed. It looked nothing like the photos, so I don't understand the positive reviews. We paid 9000huf, which felt far too expensive, then moved to another campsite just 15km away. That place had great facilities and cost 7500huf. The English-speaking staff and ATM are the only reason for the extra star.

The view was magnificent and the service was friendly. We also really liked the small pool and preferred it to the Balaton lake. The pitches were spacious, though sunny. The food was expensive and disappointing: my cooked potatoes and red cabbage were already cold, and tasted awful. The showers were poor too, with almost no pressure and only a few drops coming out, while getting the temperature right was difficult. For the price, it didn't feel worthwhile. We paid 8.500 krones for one night, one tent, two people, and lots of mosquitoes. A cold meal with some refreshing drinks cost 10.000 krones.

The beach has a nice view, and our room was fine, with a clean bed and shower. Reception staff were really friendly. The restaurant was a letdown, though: the food was overpriced and not very good, and the staff there weren't especially friendly or professional.

We camped for one night with our family. The campsite and its service were okay, but the nearby disco was awful. From 11 p. m. until 4:30 a.m., very loud music kept us awake. There was no chance to sleep and rest unless you're completely deaf.
