The terrace has a nice view over a large part of Lake Balaton, but the room was filthy, the hotel's furniture was broken, and the bathroom was especially run down. No staff were there, so we had to check in by phone. They didn't seem to know which room we'd booked and just told us to choose one and transfer the money to a private account.

The hotel is beautiful. We had the nine room hotel to ourselves, with no other guests. From our balcony there was a panoramic view of Balaton. The hill down to the city center is steep.

There’s nobody at reception, so you can just walk into the building, and mosquito screens are fitted in only one or two spots. Our room also seemed barely cleaned, with dust, dirt, and limescale around the bed and on the shelves. The owner asked for the payment in cash, off the books.

In the morning, I found out the mattress was crawling with bedbugs. The place looked promising at first, but it’s turned into a musty bedbug mess. Cleaning, if it happens, is very superficial, with dust and cobwebs everywhere. The owner didn’t give me a receipt for the money and didn’t ask for any personal details, which made it seem like he was only interested in cash off the books. When I called him, he said he was away and wouldn’t be back for a week. He hadn’t mentioned that beforehand. I wouldn’t recommend spending a few days here. Maybe the supervisory authorities should take a look.
