The apartment was clean and its equipment looked new, but our stay did not meet our basic expectations for privacy or hospitality. We decided to leave a day early because we did not feel welcome in Zoltán's house. We understand that changing our plans caused the host trouble, but we had thought we were renting an entire house for eight people, not a one-bedroom apartment. I think others could enjoy staying here if they are comfortable with the apartment being inside the owner's home, with the family living upstairs, rather than having the whole place to themselves. Before arriving, we asked Zoltán in chat whether the entire place and all five beds would be ours. He said yes, but that wasn't what we found. The owner had locked the extra rooms, saying we wouldn't need them, without asking how many rooms we needed. We had rented what we understood to be the entire place, yet only one of the three bedrooms was available. The listing information was unclear, and communicating with the host was difficult because he couldn't speak English. We had also asked whether two more friends and their dogs could stay with us, since they couldn't find a spot at the local campsites. We offered to pay extra, but he said cleaning another room would be too much trouble. He suggested they camp in the garden instead, even though rain was expected, his family would be using the garden that afternoon and the next day, and the spot was right beside where the owner lived. My friends felt embarrassed by the lack of privacy. The owner didn't allow dogs inside, so they chose to sleep under the covered patio by the apartment entrance, where they had a bit more privacy than in the garden. A severe storm with lightning came through. The owner warned us that he would water the flowers early to check whether they had slept outside. The next day, the host accused them of lying and sleeping indoors, although they really had spent the night outside. We were also blamed for using the covers in our room's wardrobe without permission. We had assumed the few things provided in the apartment were there to use, as in most Airbnbs I'd stayed in. When we arrived, the owner's son-in-law greeted us and was very nice, but he suddenly told us the whole family would be gathering upstairs and in the garden during our two-day stay. Nobody had told us this in advance. We then waited over an hour for him to take care of the registration and tax paperwork.
