The reception staff were very nice and did all they could, but the place felt neglected, almost abandoned. There were lots of cobwebs, and the small self-service kitchen had no sink and too few cleaning supplies for so many rooms. You could hear every conversation and activity next door through the walls. The TV channels and internet didn’t work either, and we felt like we’d gone back ten years.
There were two balconies for the four of us, and the place was nice. It was clean enough, but with what seemed like a sale and purchase going on, it didn’t feel like it was getting enough attention. A few bulbs were out, including the reading lamp that would have helped when getting up at night. Since there’s no restaurant downstairs, the upstairs kitchenette could be better equipped. There was no dishwasher, wifi, or TV. The new owner has been taught a lesson.
We needed somewhere urgently for the day, and they were able to put us up. We could park in front of the guesthouse, got a welcome, and I could sleep. The neighbors weren’t noisy, the shared kitchen was cute 😊, and the bathroom was fine with me. Still, it was expensive for what you got. The bridge to the guesthouse was broken, and there were cheap fixes around the place. The kitchen had a plastic sink, and I think our room hadn’t been painted in ten years. The yard especially made it look like the owner didn’t really own the place. There was a spiderweb on the lamp and dead bugs in a corner, so I wondered if they cleaned only every 2-3 guests. No wifi or TV, which feels like penny-pinching these days when those are basic expectations. In today’s hospitality, the things I encountered here just aren’t acceptable, even though I’d gladly have given it 3-4 stars.
Lake Balaton is nearby, and there are two balconies. We didn't meet the owner, but the staff we did meet were nice and helpful. Despite what we'd heard, the toilet and shower are separate, and we didn't see any spiders. The railway and line 7 are right next to the place, and the fridge and bathroom light buzz, though you can get used to them. I'd recommend it to everyone.
We'd heard plenty of bad things from earlier guests, but that wasn't our experience. The place has changed hands, and this was our first stay since then. The new owners are making improvements and are lovely. They paid attention to every request, the service was great, and they adore dogs. We were there with a German Shepherd and can only recommend it.
