Balatontourist Füred Bungalows

It’s a touristy, crowded place, and as someone who prefers nature, I didn’t enjoy the atmosphere. Camping in our own tent for two people cost 32€, which felt expensive to me, even with toilets and showers included. There’s plenty of convenience, though: a pool, entertainment, a supermarket, and shops. Families will probably like it. I guess it’s down to taste, just not mine.

We came in our RV, and the rooms looked nice from the outside. The site itself is large, tidy, and clean. One end has a newer, nice toilet and shower block, while the facilities at the other end are a bit dated. There’s a big pool, but getting into it is awkward because it’s raised high above the ground. The toddler pool doesn’t have much seating around it. It’s a pleasant place, though looking back, I think there are nicer spots.

For a one-night summer stop in a campervan while traveling around Europe, I wouldn’t recommend it. The charge was 27 530 HUF for the night, which is very expensive, and they wouldn’t let us stay an extra hour or two past the 12pm checkout. I also asked whether we could park outside and go swimming at the beach, but was told we’d need to buy another ticket to get in.

We rented a mobile home for six nights, and it was a letdown. The place was dated and not well looked after, with safety problems including damaged decking and a missing shower door knob that left a sharp, rusty screw exposed. The paths were poorly lit after dark, and the broken asphalt was easy to trip over without a torch. Service was basically absent. At the beach, the so-called lifeguards seemed more interested in everything else than keeping watch. If you’re not bringing a campervan or planning to stay in your own tent, I’d book a hotel or Airbnb instead.
