The breakfast buffet had a good range of healthy and traditional options, and the service was decent, though some staff seemed a bit odd at times. The indoor spa, outdoor pool, and jacuzzi offered a relaxing break from downtown, and the hotel sits in the lively heart of Balatonfüred with a great view of Lake Balaton and Tihany Monastery. For this price, I found the rooms bare-bones. The towels felt extremely cheap, the beds were poor quality, and little care seemed to have gone into furnishing. Golden Lake Resort also seems short on maintenance: balcony decks were covered in mold and the bathroom was falling apart. The wireless connection was nearly unusable, which was probably the clearest sign of poor management or inattention to detail. At a central location and this price, that’s unacceptable.
