Club Regatta

We spent a week here at the beginning of August. It was easy to reach, well placed for both the beach and town center, and had a family friendly feel. The staff were kind and helpful. I liked the ship theme, with a deck for the hallway and dining room and a cabin for the room. Our two-room apartment was nice, the beds were comfortable, both air conditioners worked well, and the bathroom was clean. Breakfast was good quality, though the selection was modest. There's also a garden cinema next door, which could be a downside if you don't want to hear it in the evening. There were days when the guesthouse yard didn't have enough parking. The double bed in the smaller room is cramped for two adults, though fine for children. Shower hot water pressure was very low, and they couldn't fix it when we asked. One window wouldn't open or close properly and needs renovating. A hot breakfast costs extra and isn't included in the room rate. Leaves had been left on the yard trampoline, and credit cards aren't accepted. Despite those shortcomings, I'd recommend it to anyone willing to pay a bit more than for nearby places for a guesthouse with a distinctive look.

Things have changed a lot since 2011. In 2017, the garden was neglected and the breakfast box was very, very basic, though that may have been because of the pandemic. The sour cream and cheese served with the bun shouldn't have been microwaved, the grated cheese was mixed into warm sour cream. For four people, we got just two bath towels and two hand towels. Reception said they were at the dry cleaners when we asked, so there were no spares. The minibar was empty. It wasn't like this before: the owner was nice, breakfast was a proper buffet, the garden was tidy, and the garden bar was open. Too bad!

The grill dinner alone is enough to make me hungry thinking about it, so I won't say much about that:) The rooms are stunning and the service was perfect. My first visit to Club Regatta left me with memories I still haven't forgotten. If you want a place to relax in a special hotel on a boat, this is a great choice.

My seven-year-old had plenty to do, from ping-pong and the trampoline to playing in the garden with the other kids. I don't sail, but I was drawn in by the decor, the staff, and the nautical feel throughout the hotel. I appreciate a place with style. I had assumed the exclusive grill dinner was a one-off while we were there, but other commenters make it clear we weren't the only ones to experience such a special day at Regatta. I'd recommend it to anyone.
