Világos Hotel Balatonvilágos

We gave the hotel another chance and were really impressed. The change in management seems to have made a big difference: the whole place feels more welcoming now, and check-in and check-out both went smoothly. I recommend it 👍🏻😍

There’s potential here, but it seems to get worse every year. The food is poor and the choices are limited. Much of the place is broken, rusty, or out of order. The indoor pool was ice cold and dirty, and the outdoor children’s pool was dirty too, looking like it hadn’t been used in ages. There are pedal boats, but they couldn’t be used because the place had already been sold before the boats were put on the water. The website photos don’t show what you’ll actually find.

We left after about 15 minutes because we just wanted to get out. The outside reminded us of the hotel from ‘The Inbetweeners Movie’, and we didn’t feel safe leaving the car. The elevator seemed unsafe and jolted every time it passed a floor. In our ‘superior double’ room, two single beds had been pushed together, and I could feel every spring. It was the worst bed I’ve ever sat on. The carpet and curtains were badly stained, the drawers were sticky with dust and crumbs inside, and the tiny bathroom was dirty. The narrow balcony was filthy and had two mouldy plastic chairs. The one bright spot was the receptionist working at 3pm on 5th July, who was very kind and tried to get us a refund. My biggest regret, besides choosing the non-refundable option, is not taking photos of the room as evidence. We were just trying to leave as quickly as possible. I was very disappointed, and I can’t understand how Expedia gave it a 9.6.

At 120 euros a night, I expected the staff to show some care, but they didn’t seem to try. The rooms and the rest of the place feel stuck in the early 90s, including the toilet and shower. The breakfast area smelled funky, and at night we could hear bass booming from a nearby party. Just a terrible experience.
