To Wellness Hotel

The staff were the one bright spot, friendly and helpful. The hotel itself was a letdown despite the lovely area around it. Our room was tiny, and the food was mediocre at best. The wellness facilities don’t come close to what other places in Hungary offer, so I wouldn’t choose this hotel for a proper wellness holiday.

The location is excellent, and I liked the interior and its black-and-white photos. My room was small but clean, with basic equipment and a large TV. The included breakfast and lunch were average at best, with no vegetable or light choices, and half the wellness area was closed without any discount from the full price. Drinks seemed too expensive for the place and their quality. There were restriction signs everywhere, including rules against connecting your own device to the TV or keeping your drinks in the fridge, which got annoying. I wouldn’t return.

The food included in our package was alarming, seemed defrosted and canned. Workers were also all over the hallways during construction. Before we arrived, an email two weeks earlier said only the wellness area would be under renovation, but the hotel was still being built when we got there. Staff were rude and barely tried to help, with no smiles, no help with our bags, no toiletries, and no room cleaning. Our room was hot, too. The 10% price reduction was far too little for staying two days in a hotel closed to outside guests, even though we had a better room, which was still hot. After I left a detailed review at checkout, I got no promised refund or apology. What a disaster.

The staff were polite and nice, and everything was clean. I felt comfortable and well looked after, and the food was tasty. The lobby and terrace are really nice. I didn’t use the wellness area or swimming pool, so I can’t comment on them. I chose a standard room, and it was small. The food was OK, though breakfast could have been better. I missed having a coffee machine, but the coffee they served wasn’t bad. It’s a nice place to stay and probably hard to beat nearby, but at over 100 euros a night, the price might disappoint. That’s why I didn’t give it five stars.
