Bélkő Panzió

A really relaxing place, kept perfectly clean, with super friendly staff. There’s beautiful nature close by, so hikers can easily spend a few days exploring. English wasn’t very useful for communicating here, but I managed fine with a translator app.

The rooms and shared areas were clean and comfortable, and the price felt fair. We got the street-facing room because it was all that was left at the last minute, though, and it was unfortunately very noisy.

Orsi and Tamás were so kind and helpful, with lots of tips on where to go and what to see nearby. We didn’t meet the owners, but they must be great people to have such employees. We booked ahead and stayed four nights. Our room was tidy and clean, with a mini fridge. We were told on the first day what one night of air conditioning would cost. They offered us champagne when we arrived and a wall calendar when we left. You can also fry bacon in the garden. I’d recommend the Pension to anyone wanting to relax in the area.

The place was clean and tidy, but I gave it one star solely because of the owner’s attitude. My daughter and I were making a quick breakfast at 7:15, following the receptionist’s advice that guests could use the kitchen before 8 and after 9 and prepare food from their own supplies. The owner came in and rudely threw us out. She made no effort to resolve the confusion, even after we explained we were following the receptionist’s instructions and that the problem had come from their side. We ended up making breakfast in our room, basically camping. We travel several times a year at home and abroad and have never faced this kind of treatment or problem solving. We left feeling sad. We’d arrived for one unplanned night while travelling and hadn’t known breakfast was only available to a limited number of guests. We didn’t mind missing breakfast, since the receptionist had suggested we could make our own.
