I was only there for one late afternoon, so I can't offer a fuller review. The house itself is long and has a porch and attic, with a lovely flower-filled courtyard, though it sits in a busy spot opposite the church. It's peaceful inside, with fresh air and a relaxing feel. You can grill or cook outdoors, and the resident host is on hand to help guests with anything. Bódvarákó, at the foot of Esztramos Mountain in the Bódva River valley, is a great base for hiking. Bring something for the mosquitoes in the evening, though that's obviously not the property's fault.

We spent a week there and only managed to see a small part of all the natural and cultural treasures nearby. The landscape is beautiful and feels untouched. The village is quiet, with lovely old houses and friendly people, and it has a real sense of community. Klári, the owner, was a wonderful, kind host and helped us with everything. We also got a glimpse of traditional peasant life in a good way. We'll come back.

The kitchen is clean and well equipped, and we got a kind welcome. It's good value, quiet, and right on the blue route, with an old farmhouse feel. There was hot water and a shower, but no shower cabin, so the room flooded even though I tried to be careful. I also missed having somewhere to sit outside in the yard. It works well for hikers, more as a place to sleep than a tourist hostel or vacation stay. Those drawbacks are why I'd rate it below five.

A neat, well put-together place in a beautiful little village, with a very kind host. Bódvarákó has a lot of built and natural wonders close by. I can only recommend it to everyone.
