Olympos Panzio

The host made us feel welcome and was kind. Inside, everything was clean, and the location worked well for us, about 20 minutes from the center of Budapesta. A really nice pension.

Getting back onto the highway was easy, since the hotel is close to the M1/M7 and we could avoid city traffic on our way out of the country. Breakfast tasted great, though there weren’t many choices. The bedroom was excellent. I was puzzled by the two pillows, since one was really big, and the cameras were top-notch. Hope I can return!

We were still waiting at the Hungarian border when they called, an hour and a half after check-in had begun, to ask whether I had a vaccination certificate. When I said I didn’t, they kept telling me to cancel, even though cancelling meant losing the money we’d paid in advance through booking.com. I asked where the certificate requirement was stated and got only, “we have our own rules.” So we were stuck at the border, paid for a room, and told we couldn’t stay there. Luckily booking.com support cancelled it for free and found us another place in Budapest that cost less. DO NOT BOOK HERE!

With the trip just one day away, they cancelled our reservation after we’d agreed we could pay at the pension when we arrived. I now had to find somewhere else on short notice, which was a really unpleasant situation. I had a terrible experience and definitely wouldn’t recommend this place.
