The sauna was great, and the rooms were nicely decorated, tidy, and cleaned every day. The hotel sits in the heart of the beautiful city, with plenty to explore close by. Staff were very friendly and helpful, going out of their way to make our stay enjoyable.

Set just far enough from the main highway to feel peaceful, but only a few minutes' walk from the action, the location worked really well. This small, almost boutique hotel sets a standard others could follow. Our room was comfortable and spotlessly clean, and the breakfast was more than adequate and beautifully presented. Every staff member was polite and professional. I can't thank the ambra hotel enough for making our stay so pleasant. I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking for somewhere to stay in Budapest.

A good no-frills option for a Budapest stay. The hotel was comfortable, got the basics right, and had a good choice at breakfast.

The breakfast buffet was great, and the staff were very accommodating and quick to take care of what we needed. The hotel is very nice and centrally located. My only complaint was the air conditioning. It hadn't been turned on for the building, so we couldn't use the unit in our room. They said they usually switch on the building air conditioning in May. They did give us a small oscillating fan, which helped.

The breakfast was free and had a decent selection. I also liked being able to get coffee or tea any time of day and enjoy it on the front patio or in the lobby. The bathroom had a nice shower with hot water. The hotel is decent and well located near food and shopping, and the room was a good size. There were some real problems, though. The bedding had a lot of hair on it, the carpets were very dirty, and the bed was so hard that getting up in the morning was actually painful. The toilet paper was very cheap, and for three people over three nights they left one full roll and another nearly empty one on the holder. That single-ply paper didn't last long. They provide earplugs, and I soon understood why. There was banging and stomping all night from the floors above and the adjoining walls, with no soundproofing at all. Parking was another issue if you arrive by car: there are only four hotel spaces, you'd need a very small, light car, and charging 39€ a day for a space is absolutely insane.
