Anna Hotel Budapest

The worn, deeply stained carpet made the room feel neglected, and breakfast was limited and below par. We also found the water dispenser at reception empty. Staff said a refill would take time; after waiting 15 minutes with nothing happening, we gave up. Another couple with us asked the night manager for more sightseeing ideas, and he condescendingly said they had “seen everything” without offering anything else. We stayed November 7 to November 9, and the room was stuck at an uncomfortable 25.6°C. Changing the thermostat did nothing, and we couldn’t sleep well in the heat. At reception, the attendant told us to adjust it, as if we hadn’t tried, then cut us off and said to wait for the cooling. We explained we’d already waited overnight, and she sighed and said maintenance would sort it out. After a day out sightseeing, we came back to find the thermostat off and the window open. The room was uncomfortably cold that second night. I don’t usually leave negative reviews because small service problems can happen, but this stay was disappointing for comfort, cleanliness, service, and hospitality. I’d strongly advise looking at other places to stay.

So glad I stayed just one night. The receptionist was rude, unprofessional, and didn’t want to help. I asked where I could get food and she said, “I DON'T KNOW.” The restaurant was right beside the hotel, so I’m sure she didn’t know how to do her job. It was a terrible first experience of the country. Thanks for the stinky service.

The restaurant surroundings are lovely, though it’s a shame there’s no garden seating for people who aren’t dining there. The hotel is quiet and clean, and the bathrooms have been redone. It is ageing, and the carpets need replacing. Still, it’s a decent hotel for a good price, right on the tram line into downtown Budapest.

We liked the price and found it really easy to catch a tram into town. The garden is pretty, though it could use more places to sit, so we borrowed chairs from the restaurant. The rooms are small and a bit tired, but we loved our stay.
