Budapest Panorama Central

For a budget stay, this place was good value for our family, with two rooms. The rooms were spacious, clean, and well kept. Where we stayed, cleaners started around 6am-ish, and their voices carried down the tiled hallways. It didn’t trouble us because we needed to get going too, but worth knowing if you like sleeping late. The spa rooms have only handheld shower roses and a low holder, a small inconvenience. The location is handy, just outside Astoria Metro Station, with trams and buses close by. Astoria doesn’t have a lift, and one tram stop is on an island reached only by stairs, a minor hassle if stairs are difficult for you. The lift in the building was quite an experience, making all sorts of odd noises. We were glad to make it off each time, though depending on your perspective, that was almost an added attraction.

I stayed here in June 2025. The hotel is in a fantastic spot, a short walk from the metro, tram, and bus stops. The Wi-Fi was excellent, and having a fridge, kettle, tea, and coffee in the room made things comfortable and convenient. The sink tap had no hot water. The shower drain was slow, and its adjustable holder was broken, leaving only a fixed holder positioned very low.

Getting around was easy, with Deák Ferenc tér station and Astoria M stop just a short walk away, and the central spot opposite the synagogue is great for sightseeing. The issue was that my room was in a separate building, which wasn't made clear and felt misleading. Entry there was awkward, there was no nearby reception, and the lifts were too small for two people with luggage. The advertised jacuzzi wasn't there, and neither was the promised complimentary bottle of wine. Reception is in another building. The staff were friendly, gave us a chip key for coming and going at any hour, and showed us to the room. Check-in starts at 2 PM and checkout is by 11 AM. They do offer free luggage storage for early arrivals or late departures, though bags have to be taken to the main building. There's no catering, so no breakfast.

We only booked one night, so it was great that staff let us leave our luggage before check-in and after checkout. Reception is across the street, and everyone there was really helpful. The annex room had a balcony looking out over one of Budapest's main streets, with a fantastic panorama. It was clean, nicely decorated, and had useful things like AC, a ridge, a water kettle, desks, and a nice toilet. The location made getting around easy, with the city centre within walking distance and a tram stop and airport shuttle bus stop nearby. We had a wonderful Budapest stay and got the experience we wanted.
