We arrived at 7 pm and ended up with nowhere to stay in Budapest. The host eventually cancelled our booking after we refused to use the apartment in the state it was in. They’d told us we could just stay there as-is, despite the unmade bed, cigarettes around the room, used towels on the floor, personal items from previous guests in the bathroom, and rubbish everywhere. When we called, the host said they had been waiting for us to arrive to explain that the previous guest hadn’t checked out on time, so they couldn’t clean. They hadn’t warned us beforehand and said they couldn’t find anyone in Budapest to do the cleaning. The apartment door had been unlocked when we got there. This was the worst accommodation situation I’ve experienced, and the way we were treated showed complete disregard and disrespect for guests.

There was lots of tasty food and drinks waiting as a complimentary welcome, including coffee, wine, juice, and chocolates. The apartment itself was super cool, clean, comfortable, and stylish, with new furniture. I’d definitely stay here again.

The location was perfect, but the smell from the moldy bed linen really wasn’t a good look.

Adele was so friendly and helpful. The apartment was spacious, comfortable, and well equipped.

The entry instructions for getting into the flat were insane, and you should be ready to find no toilet paper. 😅
