Honey Hostel

The location is a 10/10, near many tourist sights and public transport stops. The apartment was nicer than we expected from other people’s reviews, with the facilities we needed, including a hair dryer and iron. It was also a good size for three people and pretty nice for the price.

The location is great, but there are plenty of hostels in the area, and I’d think carefully before booking this one. We relied on the Booking.com reviews and expected better. The photos are very old and misleading, apparently from when the hostel was new, maybe around 10 years ago. They also knew about the heater complaints, since they said they’d received similar ones. We complained about the broken heater all three days. They said someone would come fix it, but nobody did. The windows leak air, which makes the heating problem even worse. There was no hot water in the bathroom, and water leaked at the tap instead of coming through the shower head. One of the two bathrooms shown had no lock and couldn’t be used, leaving one bathroom shared by 10 to 15 people across five rooms. The space under the bed hadn’t been cleaned for months, and there was mold on the wall with paint falling off, which seems like a health risk. There was also nobody at reception to raise the problems with.

This place looks nothing like the photos, which I imagine were taken when it first opened. It’s really run down. When we arrived, there was a dirty mop bucket in the entry, and the bathroom had no toilet paper. Empty rolls were left around for two days. The pillows are extremely thin, and the bathroom was pretty gross. One shower has no drain cover, so water sits there and smells. The other shower and tub has no curtain anymore, so water gets everywhere. If you want somewhere cheap and don’t mind dirty shared bathrooms, this is the place.

It was quick to get around from this hostel, since it’s near the city center. Our room was spacious and clean, and the refurbished kitchen and bathroom were both clean and well equipped.
