Hotel Charles

The staff were really friendly and helpful, especially with directions to places. The location is a bit far from central Budapest, and the rooms were decent. I just wish housekeeping did more than make the beds. There were clearly empty bottles left on the table. Still, it was a good place to stay.

My parents-in-law always stay here when they visit. The price is right, the rooms are clean, and the staff do their best. The restaurant is pretty good too. It's a great location if you want to be near Gellért hill and the castle district, with the city center just a few bus stops away. It obviously isn't a five star hotel.

The staff were attentive and really went out of their way to help. We also liked the restaurant food, which was much better than expected, and it was so quiet there that I think it deserves more praise. We appreciated the New Year wine as well, thank you. Getting around was easy by bus. Our room was large, with a nice kitchen unit for making food, and the heating and hot water worked perfectly. But for around 70-80GBP a night during the late Christmas to new year period, the room wasn't acceptable. We stayed for 6 nights, and it looked nothing like the photos. We felt deceived. The bathroom seemed straight from the 80s, with a pull string flush, an old wobbly faucet, a drain that kept clogging, no door or curtain around the bath, and 1-3 random holes in the wall. The duvets were old and made my skin red and itchy, and the kitchen area was a little unclean. The hotel could build more trust by remodeling some of its older rooms. We had a good time overall despite the room not meeting expectations, and I hope you take our suggestions on board. Your staff did a great job for us.

I stayed for one night last summer with my sister. The room was huge, almost like a small home, and I know I've paid twice as much before for rooms less than half that size. The location wasn't ideal for our trip, but there was an aldi at a nearby gas station. The man at the front desk was very kind.
