Hotel Ottofiori Budapest

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the location right in the heart of the city is perfect. Breakfast was good, and it was handy being able to use the coffee machine and pastries whenever I wanted. The windows aren’t soundproof, though, so at times I could hear people talking or machines in the street, which could be disturbing. I expected a bigger room based on the photos and on having reserved a deluxe room. For an economical stay, it’s still a good choice, with everything you need for a two-star hotel.

The staff made a great impression, especially the kind man at the front desk during breakfast hours. We only stayed briefly, but the hotel was one of our best experiences in Budapest. The room was lovely, the location was perfect, and it was very good value for money.

I booked a taxi through the hotel for 4am, and the driver showed up 10 minutes early. The place itself is on a very quiet street, and with only about four rooms on each floor, the whole hotel felt peaceful. As a folding-bike tourist, I also appreciated being able to leave my Brompton and bag there for two days while I was in Amsterdam. The staff were friendly and full of useful information. The rooms were good, and the price was reasonable compared with other hotels nearby. I’d definitely stay again.

The breakfast was generous, and the selection changed on both days I was there. The location was convenient, and all the receptionists were very friendly and helpful. They deserve five stars for their service. My room, 102, was quite noisy, though. There was noise outside, possibly homeless people going through a bin at 2am, and a cleaning car before 7am. I could also hear noise from the hallway, which made it hard to rest while I was in town for business. If you need a good night's sleep before a meeting, I'd ask for a higher floor. The minibar was very expensive too, 10 euros for a can of Coke and a small bottle of water felt like a lot. Thanks to the staff and breakfast, I'd consider giving the hotel another try, but those things are worth keeping in mind for a business stay.
