Ikonik Parlament

We’d definitely come back. The location is right in the heart of Budapest, close to the Parliament, and the price felt very good for what we got. Our room was clean, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom was big, and the staff were nice. There was good quality coffee and water for free in the lobby around the clock.

The room was pretty decent for the price, and the area was quiet enough to sleep well. You can walk to other attractions, with the Parliament especially close, and public transit is nearby too. Franklin was the nicest concierge I’ve ever met. I’d come back for the friendly service alone.

Breakfast was a highlight for us. The dining area looked beautiful and stylish, and I especially liked the churros and fruit selection. The coffee was nice too. There’s a free coffee machine in the lobby, plus lemon water and apples, and the lounge is comfortable and stylish. The hotel was very clean in both the rooms and public areas. We got into our room at 12:00, which was great. The room wasn’t big, but it was cosy and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom door was the one drawback, it didn’t close tightly. The location was convenient for the Parlament, restaurants, and public transport, and the neighborhood felt safe and calm. We loved our stay.

The bed was very comfortable, with good quality pillows and quilts, and the bedroom was a generous size. Reception staff were friendly and welcoming throughout. There’s free tea and coffee in the lobby, so make use of it, though I missed having it in the room. Going down each morning and carrying coffee back upstairs had lost its novelty by day three of our five-night stay. I asked housekeeping for a kettle, but it never appeared, so maybe the request got lost in translation. The location is great, two minutes on foot from the Parlament building and about 10-15 minutes from the shops if you walk faster than Google says, like I do. The room decor could use an update. Room 109 had obvious damp or old leak damage on the bathroom ceiling. Having a bath in the room was a plus, but there was no plug for it. The sink plug was too small for the bath drain. The shower pressure was good, which partly made up for not being able to use the bath. My mother and mother-in-law stayed in the room next door, 108, and had no complaints apart from the usual lack of hangers and dated decor. We’d definitely stay again if we’re in Budapest.
