Marmara Hotel Budapest

We had a few issues with the room on arrival, but the staff were helpful in sorting them out. Emilian Rado, the young man at reception, was especially helpful. The hotel’s location is perfect for sightseeing. It’s very basic, though reasonably clean. We booked room only and tried breakfast at the hotel on our first morning. That was very basic too.

After a day seeing Budapest, the basic but clean room was just right for relaxing. We stayed four nights with breakfast, and the staff were excellent, well presented, and very polite. I’d read complaints about breakfast and worried about it, but there was no need. It was continental, with small changes each day. I’m curious what the people complaining expected.

I’m staying here now, and the room has gone uncleaned for four days in a row. When I complained at reception, I got no reaction at all. It felt like I was speaking to a mummy from the time of Remesis. Customer care is triple zero, 000. Maltese people looking for a Budapest hotel should not even consider it. And this is supposed to be a 4 star hotel. Rubbish. Update: Management approached me, apologised for the inconvenience, and said they had taken note. That was enough for me 👍 A few upgrades here and there could make it excellent for a Budapest visit, because the location is super brilliant.

Everything else is at a very high level, so I’d rate the hotel very well. The two things behind my 4 stars: they ask for a 100 EUR deposit at check-in, which seemed weird to me, though you get it back at check-out. Also, at breakfast some dishes run out, and you have to wait 5 - 10 minutes for more to be served.
