Emely was a fantastic host. She helped us get into the accommodation late in the evening, and let us keep the room after checkout on our final day because our flight home was late, with no extra charge. The Monolit VIP Deluxe Apartment is also great value and in a central Budapest location. Vaci Street, with its shops, bars, and restaurants, is close, and the Castle, chain bridge, and some famous ruin pubs are all within walking distance. We loved staying here. The rooms were spacious, comfortable, and fitted with modern fixtures. We’d definitely come back to Budapest and stay here again.

After a disastrous start at our previous accommodation, this room was a relief. It was quiet, tidy, and very clean. We’d definitely stay again.

The room was old and in poor condition, and the landlord was inconsiderate.

The apartment’s only real plus is the location, right in central Pest near the Danube. It was much smaller than the photos suggested, apparently because a larger apartment had been split up. Inside were a double bed, a sofa bed, and a TV. The bathtub was very old and dirty, and nearly unusable because there was no plug. The entrance was shared with the neighbors, and the thin walls meant we could hear everything they said. Payment was cash only.

Men came into the apartment while we were inside and began changing the locks without saying anything to us. We had children with us, so you can imagine how upsetting it was. We couldn’t sleep. This felt like a complete scam. We complained to Booking.com, which offered us a 10% discount on our next trip. Unbelievable. Stay away!
