It’s a large apartment in a great location, with a small balcony and nice receptionists. With more care from the owner, it could be a good place to stay. As it was, though, it was filthy and neglected. The furniture looked very worn, and the sheets and towels were stained and covered in hair. The towels were old and paper-thin. The bathroom was a disaster, with thick mould in the shower and bathtub joints that you could smell. After 10 minutes looking around, we booked somewhere else, even though we didn’t know if we could cancel or get our money back. The booking website helped us get one night refunded out of our two-night reservation, which was better than nothing. I don’t understand the good recommendations this place gets.

Suite 1.2 had plenty of space, with two bedrooms, a powder room, a bathroom, a living area, and a full kitchen. It’s an easy walk to several sights and about 3 minutes from Parliament. We liked the high ceilings and tasteful modern decor, and free wifi was available. We had a pleasant stay, though some things needed more care. The powder room sink and the shower/tub drains were so slow that within a minute the water was nearly ankle deep. There were three thermostats, but it wasn’t clear whether any of them controlled the air conditioning. Fortunately it was cool enough that we didn’t need it. The bathroom trash can’s foot pedal was broken and looked like it had been that way for a while. To reach the suite, you go through a pleasant courtyard and a foyer. One morning the foyer alarm went off because workers had left the door open. There was no obvious way to silence it, though it eventually stopped.

Splendid Residence was lovely, spacious, and clean. I visited at the end of September, when Budapest was quite cold, around 10degrees C. I gave it only three stars because the room had no heat. The proprietor acted as if they were adjusting it, but the temperature never went above 21degrees C.

The apartment was super spacious and well equipped, in a beautiful building on a quiet street. The staff were cute and the wifi was fast. The beds were the letdown: in one room it felt like sleeping on wood. The place also looked better in the pictures than it did in person, though maybe we just didn’t get one of the rooms shown. Still, it was an okay stay :) 3+
