The Cream

We left at 8am the next morning and went home, trying to get the problem sorted as soon as possible. We hadn’t turned on the water during our stay because we didn’t want the apartment to flood and cause an even bigger problem. The drain clogged soon after we arrived. We hadn’t checked it beforehand, and it may already have been broken. Our two-year-old had defecated and wiped it with wet toilet paper; we took a picture and sent it as proof. The next day, The Cream sent this message: “Dear Bruno, thank you for choosing to stay with us. We hope you had an amazing time! We’ve just started our Airbnb business, and a good review can help us be more visible. I left you a five-star review. Thanks for your help and for staying at our apartment! Kind regards, The Cream Team.” They seemed to be waiting for me to review them. After I gave them five stars on Google and Airbnb, they said a repairman had fixed the drain and that we owed 200 euros. I refused to pay because I didn’t think I was at fault. The repairman hadn’t found anything that had been flushed down the drain. Only after I refused did they post a guest review and smear me. Avoid these scammers.

The room was cosy and comfortable, and the location put us right in the heart of Budapest while staying really quiet at night. The staff were helpful and understanding. Our receptionist was especially kind and let us leave our luggage after check-out. We highly recommend The Cream.

We couldn’t get back into the apartment after exploring because the entry code stopped working. We were left outside all night, with all our belongings inside and nothing with us. We called the owner over and over, sent texts, and even asked Booking to contact them, but nobody responded. One neighbour told us this wasn’t the first time it had happened. I wouldn’t recommend staying here. It’s not worth the risk of being locked out all night.

The staff were really kind and helpful. The room was nice, and the place is in the city centre.
